About the Client

The client is a UK-based company specializing in the sale and supply of energy equipment. As the business grew, they added service-oriented lines — installation, maintenance, and configuration — each managed as a separate operation with its own tools, ERP system, and data.

What worked at a smaller scale became a liability. The company needed a unified foundation to connect its business lines, streamline operations, and support the next stage of growth without multiplying complexity.

Challenge

The client faced operational and financial challenges due to disparate systems. Each business line had its own ERP: Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP Business One, and spreadsheets.

The result was a business that couldn’t see itself clearly:

  • financial data lived in silos,
  • operational KPIs required manual compilation,
  • billing involved coordination across systems, which made it slow and error-prone, and
  • resource planning suffered the same risk.

And every time the company added a new service line, the problem compounded — more systems, more inconsistencies, more overhead.

To fix this, the client needed a platform that could do four things:

  1. aggregate data across all business lines,
  2. give leadership a real-time view of performance,
  3. automate billing and reporting, and
  4. scale to new lines without reinventing the integration each time.

Solution We Delivered

Before writing a line of code, we needed to understand exactly what we were connecting.

Analysis & Planning

We conducted a full audit of existing ERP systems, spreadsheets, and operational workflows — mapping data flows, identifying duplications, and documenting every point where manual effort compensated for system gaps.

That audit became the foundation for a unified data architecture designed to consolidate information across all present and future business lines.

Integration & Automation

With the architecture defined, we built a centralized data platform that unifies data from all ERP systems in real time. Key capabilities include:

  • real-time synchronization across all ERP systems, eliminating lag and reconciliation errors;
  • automated billing workflows that run end-to-end without manual coordination;
  • a single source of truth for finance, operations, and customer data;
  • consolidated dashboards giving leadership real-time, enterprise-wide visibility.

Scalable Architecture

A core requirement from the start was that this platform had to grow with the business. We designed the architecture to be modular — adding a new service line extends what’s already there rather than requiring a rebuild.

To validate this, we integrated a new service line as a proof of concept during the engagement. The architecture absorbed the addition cleanly, with no disruption to existing reporting or data flows.

Security & Governance

Centralizing financial and operational data across multiple business lines requires careful access management. We implemented HTTPS-encrypted connections between all systems, enforced least-privilege access controls, and built audit logs across every data flow — meeting the governance requirements of a multi-entity operation.

Platform Architecture

The solution is designed for reliability, performance, and extensibility, and its core components are:

  • Cloud-based integration platform built on Azure.
  • Central API layer connecting multiple ERP systems.
  • Event-driven processing for scalable, real-time data synchronization.
  • Centralized operational database with an analytics layer for reporting and KPIs.

Client’s Results

The platform gave the client a single, accurate picture of the entire business:

Unified Financial Visibility

Company-wide financials and operational KPIs are now consolidated into a single dashboard. Executives can monitor performance across all business lines in real time — without waiting for someone to pull the numbers together.

Clear data now supports faster strategic decisions and more confident planning for new service lines.

Automated Operations

Billing, resource allocation, and reporting no longer require manual coordination between systems. The operational overhead that came with managing disconnected tools has been eliminated.

Scalable by Design

Adding a new business line is now a configuration exercise rather than an engineering project. Data integrates automatically, and reporting stays consistent from day one.

Validated Expansion Model

The proof-of-concept integration confirmed that the architecture holds under real conditions. Future expansions can be executed without system overload, reporting delays, or structural rework.
