Software Development for Startups

Your runway sets the deadline, and the first version has to be real enough to put in front of users rather than a demo that falls over the moment someone touches real data.

Crunch-IS runs software development services for startups as a single pod of three to five senior engineers working alongside AI agents, settles the scope before anything is written, and hands back code, repositories, and cloud accounts that are yours from the first commit.

Benefits of Software Development for Startups

Icon
A Second Attempt You Can Afford

Speed matters here for one reason: it leaves budget to act on what the first version teaches you.

Icon
A Technical Story That Holds Up

Documented architecture, a codebase somebody else can read, and a delivery record with dates in it.

Icon
No Dependency on Your Development Partner

Everything we build is yours to move, extend, or hand to an in-house team, by design rather than by negotiation.

Icon
Documented for the Team You Build

The handover is written for the person who has not met us, because that is who will maintain it.

Scope your startup build before you commit.

Startup Software Development Services We Can Help With

Before writing anything, we break your idea into what users need to do the one thing the product is for, and what can wait. Custom software development for startups starts there rather than with a feature list. We build that, and we will say plainly when something on your list belongs in release three. The work runs on the same stack the product will scale on.

We map the product, the data it needs, and the integrations it depends on before the build starts, because that is where risk is cheap to find. Discovery produces a scope, an architecture, and a sequence, not a slide deck, and it covers the UX and UI design alongside the software architecture. When an idea needs testing before commitment, we run it as a proof of concept first.

icon

Taking Over an Existing Build

We take over codebases other teams wrote, stabilize what is running, and rebuild the parts that cannot be saved, in that order. We apply the same discipline to legacy software modernization.

icon

Reviewing an AI-Built Prototype

If your first version came out of an AI coding tool, the question is usually what happens when real users, real data, and real money arrive. We read the code, tell you what is safe to build on and what must be replaced, and give you a fix-or-rebuild answer before you commit a budget to either. Where the idea itself still needs proving, an AI proof of concept is the cheaper next step.

icon

Scaling What You Have Launched

We take products that have found users and make them hold: the query that worked at ten thousand rows but not at twenty million, the manual step somebody still does by hand, the architecture that suited the MVP and is now the constraint. Growth usually breaks one thing rather than everything, so the first job is finding which.

Our Capabilities

01

Product Architecture

We design for the second year, not just the launch: data models that survive a pivot, service boundaries that let one part be rewritten without the rest, and a deployment path that works on the day you have one engineer and on the day you have ten.

02

AI-Assisted Software Development Across the Lifecycle

Most teams stop at code suggestions in the editor. We put AI into requirements, architecture, code generation, QA and code review, and documentation, which is where a timeline actually moves. This is our AI-enabled engineering model.

03

AI and Machine Learning In-Product

Where a model changes a business number rather than a headline, we build it: computer vision, document extraction, generative AI features, and the AI agents around them, with the MLOps that keeps a model working after launch.

04

Infrastructure You Can Take Over

Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Jenkins, and the ELK stack, set up in your accounts under your billing and documented so the engineer you hire next year can run it without calling us.

05

Data Foundations

PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Google BigQuery, and Amazon Redshift, wired so the reporting you will need for a board deck does not require a rebuild of the product that generates it. Deeper work runs as data engineering and business intelligence.

What You Get

Scope Defined Before the Build Starts

We agree on the specification, the architecture, and the sequence in writing before anyone writes a line, so the estimate is a plan rather than an opening position.

A Working Deployment Every Week

A running environment you can open yourself, rather than screenshots and a status call. It is the one form of progress that cannot be faked for six months, and it is how a non-technical founder judges the work without reading the code.

The Same Senior Engineers From Discovery to Production

Three to five specialists and one lead who is accountable for the whole scope. You meet them before you sign, and you talk to them directly afterward.

Ownership Transferred as the Work Happens

Source code, repositories, cloud accounts, domains, and credentials sit with you from the start, not at the end, with documented architecture and a handover your next engineer can work from.

Why Choose Crunch-IS as Your Startup Software Development Company

Compact, Senior Pods and No Junior Bench

An AI Pod is 3 to 5 senior specialists working with AI agents as one unit. Fewer people mean lower coordination costs, which is why small teams outrun large ones.

AI-Assisted Software Development Beyond the IDE

We use AI across the whole build, not only in the code editor: requirements, architecture, code generation, QA and review, and documentation. It speeds delivery by up to 2x compared with a traditional build of the same scope.

You Own Everything, From the First Commit

Full source-code ownership, documented architecture, and knowledge transfer at handover, with the accounts in your name as we go. No dependency by design.

Software Development for Startups FAQ

What happens if the first version turns out to be the wrong thing to have built?

Some of it will be, and the way to survive that is to find out early and cheaply rather than after the budget is gone. We keep the first scope deliberately narrow, ship to a live environment weekly, and treat parts of the first build as explicitly disposable where the point is to learn something. We will also refuse work: a first release carrying every feature on the list is not an MVP, and agreeing to build one is how a project runs out of money mid-loop. Where the first release is genuinely the experiment, we run it as MVP development.

Who will I actually be working with day to day?

The engineers building your product and the lead accountable for the scope.

Who owns the code, the repositories, and the cloud accounts?

You do, throughout. From the start, source code, repositories, cloud and third-party accounts, domain, and credentials are in your name rather than transferred at the end, and the handover includes documented architecture and knowledge transfer. This ownership model applies across all our work, not just startup-specific arrangements.

We have already built a version with AI. Can you work from that?

Often, yes, and the first job is to find out honestly. We review what exists for the things that break under real load rather than in a demo: data handling, authentication, integration points, and whatever is hardcoded. You get a clear fix-or-rebuild answer with reasoning, before either becomes a budget. If the concept still needs proving rather than rebuilding, an AI proof of concept is the cheaper route.

Will investors hold it against us that we did not build it in-house?

It depends on one distinction, and the honest answer is not a reassurance. If the technology is the product, the thing that is defensible about the company, investors will want that capability in-house eventually, and an external partner is a bridge rather than a destination. If the technology is how a non-technical business runs, it matters much less than what the business earns. One of our published projects is a computer-vision product built for a startup client that was shown at a major tech conference and drew investor interest.
